If you have yet to read any of these posts, it is likely you are not Facebook friends with anyone of the LDS faith. I encourage you to seek these blogs out and make your own opinions. Given that I grew up in Idaho and over half the people I know and associate with are LDS, I have gotten my fair share.
It would appear many are upset with the negative media garnered from the movement to ordain women. Understandably so, given that this issue causes for much doubt and confusion to members and non-members alike. What concerns me is the response of these particular individuals in how to approach such issues.
"Conceal, don't feel, don't let them see..."
(I've seen that movie one time and yet somehow I know all the freaking lyrics.. It haunts me in my dreams and apparently even my personal blog posts aren't safe...)
What these bloggers are asking is that any issues members have with the church, please keep them between yourself and God in order to avoid losing the interest of potential members.
Doesn't that sound a little bit cult-ish to you? Because it sure does to me. Personally, I would feel more disinterest after reading this kind of material than I would seeing the process those women have gone through to question their role in the church.
"Aye man, I know you're uncomfortable with how we do around here, but you gotta keep that shit on lock because we need more people in our gang... I mean group."
I don't think this message serves well for the LDS faith who is already struggling to keep a positive light in spite of negative media. I am well aware that the LDS faith teaches that doctrine is only that said by the church leaders during conference and those four special books. But if that's the case, why is this shit spreading like wild fire?
"It is not wrong to question things. The fact that you're asking questions shows that you're five levels of wisdom above the idiot who's objecting to you asking questions."
